CloudFoundry is the open source Platform as a Service (PAAS) project initiated by VMware. Among the most exciting aspects of CloudFoundry is its openness and developer-friendliness: CloudFoundry supports applications written in a range of popular languages and frameworks to de deployed with virtually no restrictions and in a variety of environments: public or private clouds, potentially reusing exiting hardware.

Atteedees must bring their own laptop with the following software installed:

The latest version of RubyGems
VMware Workstation, Player or Fusion to be able to run Micro Cloud Foundry (only one of those 3 is needed)
Optionally, STS (SpringSource Tool Suite) should be installed as well

Biography: Dave Syer

Dr David Syer works for VMware in London providing Identity Management solutions for the Cloudfoundry platform. He is also an active Spring committer in many areas (Spring, Spring Security, Spring AMQP, Spring Integration) and is the technical lead on Spring Batch, the batch processing framework and toolkit from SpringSource. He is an experienced, delivery-focused architect and development manager, and has designed and built successful enterprise software solutions using Spring, implementing them in major financial institutions worldwide. David is known for his clear and informative training style and has deep knowledge and experience with all aspects of real-life usage of Java and the Spring framework. He enjoys creating business value from the application of simple principles to enterprise architecture.

Biography: Tareq Abedrabbo

Tareq is principal consultant at OpenCredo, he is a pragmatic, hands-on technical leader with a strong interest in areas such as programming languages, NoSql persistence engines and PaaS. He has extensive experience with the Spring stack and is a committer on the Spring Web Services project. He is also the co-author of 'Programming Spring' and 'Spring in a Nutshell'. Tareq has been delivering innovative solutions based on a variety of modern technologies and platforms, most recently Scala and Cloud Foundry.
